Reform Means for Hispanic-Owned Small Businesses
Members and guests of the North Carolina Hispanic Chamber of Commerce learned about the benefits of the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act at a healthcare breakfast held at the Chamber headquarters on Tuesday, March 13. Teresita Maz de Hoffman and David Laboy, both part of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina gave a presentation about the Health Reform and the main changes in the Health System.
The law, which turns two years old on March 23, 2012, has provisions for small businesses, women, children with pre-existing conditions, young adults, and seniors. Participants learned that there are tax credits for small businesses; children with pre-existing conditions can no longer be denied health insurance and free wellness check-ups.
