Provides support in the acquisition and retention of customers in both the group and individual market segments by serving as the Enterprise expert on the Hispanic/Latino population, language and culture. Plans, executes and analyzes new and existing corporate customer education programs in order to educate Hispanic customers on health plans and the use of the healthcare system. Provides linguistic expertise and leadership for the company’s Spanish translation process; facilitating educational meetings for Hispanics living in North Carolina and serving as the company’s spokesperson for Spanish-speaking media. Serves as a co-chair and facilitator for the BCBSNC Hispanic Council to plan, execute and report on cross-functional projects (i.e., systems configuration to gather demographic data, human resources improvements, language proficiency assessments for the bilingual workforce, Hispanic market focus groups and research).
Major Job Functions/Components:
- Identifies, analyzes and understands target audiences and their specific program or project needs in order to develop effective solutions for those audiences and participates in the strategic planning for the department by recommending enhancements to projects and programs
- Ensures translations and translation database are culturally appropriate, grammatically correct and are appropriate for general audiences and uses the termbase to create and prepare Spanish content for inclusion in programs, presentations, and supporting material
- Provides external support to the Sales and Marketing staff by making oral presentations in Spanish to enrolled groups and prospects as well as interviews with Hispanic media as needed
- Identifies and leads the planning and implementation of Latino community initiatives and sponsorships across the state, assessing program leverage points, value added opportunities and risks ensuring they have required resources and are successfully implemented
· Establishes specific performance measures that assess the effectiveness and impact of programs and projects and evaluates programs and project results and proactively identifies and recommends issues and opportunities for enhancements
· Manages overall project development, including project schedules, work assignments, budgets and reports. Develops and executes appropriate mechanisms for tracking project expenses to ensure projects – and the department as a whole – meet defined budget targets
- Provides clear and concise reporting to management on assigned programs and projects (objectives, plans, results, attendees, budget, ROI, cost per attendee, etc)
- Analyzes and improves customer satisfaction through external and internal feedback
- Serves as a lead/mentor to Bilingual Program Specialists within department and is responsible for identifying process improvements
- Manages vendor relationships on behalf of the company as assigned

- Undergraduate college degree in Spanish, communications, business, health care management or linguistics.
- Five years experience in the development and execution of events, education programs and/or project management with four years experience in English to Spanish translation
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Fluency in both Spanish (native level) and English.
- Superior writing skills in Spanish (native level, must complete an assessment), and excellent writing skills in English.
- NC Life and Health Agent license (or be able to obtain the license in 60 days)
Hiring Preferences:
